How I played (Almost) every class in one campaign

Disclaimer: not the DM fault just bad circumstances, also this will include One Shots around the main story.

We’re playing a Pirate campaign and so we started with sort of stereotypical characters an armour artificer gnome fixer hiding from authority’s for blowing up the fountain, a battle master human fighter in search of their fathers killer, and me a half elf kensai monk orphan adopted to be a look out.

The campaign started with us robbing an outpost but being captured and put to hang, we escaped and then began our search for the guy who tipped the outpost off about us. His name was og-bog (probably a fake name he gives his enemy’s or people he doesn’t trust.)

We track him to a island with gnolls and take a search and find a keep and we make quick work taking out the guards outside and in and the only room on a second floor was probably his office with half health we think to go in, a conversation started with us talking possibly get info or persuade we’re travelers in search of aid but I may have got existed and ask “Are you og-bog?” This prompted him to be a bit aggressive a small fight stared, fighter down them me then the artificer surrendered hoping to figure out how to get out later, artificer stabilised fighter as they were next to them then death save rolls Nat 1 and another low, first death of the campaign.

New character as the others escape then loss sight of og-bog they return to pirate cove a sort of base to trade and stay this introduced character 2 a swashbuckling human rouge a typical pirates with navigation tools which gains him a seat on the crew.  We also add another Npc character a gnome potion maker navigation master who happens to be our artificers uncle.

Track him to a island find out his real name Jerome as he works with some Drow under a mountain however we’re captured and are put into a gladiator arena/ feeding pit with a drider half human/ half sided like a centaur and we defeat it there’s no windows one door, I keep watch while the others investigate a hole in the ceiling where the drider came down from hoping to find a way back to the surface however a sleep arrow knocks me out and the doors are locked so the others have to escape the other way. Taken to their queen and Jerome a poor choice of words like admitting killing the strider two fingers are cut off for two lies.

The others find a way around and a fight starts we win and escape discovering the killer of the fighters father was Jeromes boss and follow him to another island where we discover he’s a vampire who’s taken over with charming the king, we believe to defeat him as he turns to mist.

On the return to the boat we discover that the first mate kills the captain and teleports away we then take the captain to the castle and as we killed the vampire they bring him back to life with magic from pellor the gods of light, which then decides to give the artificer a mark of a champion. 

We then head to the artificers home as we discovered notes of their troops their. 

We head to the town and descover that some people have gone missing and that it had a history war with mindflyers as we investigate more the mayor was replaced and drops in into their lair and we find a way out get some aid from a local who is familiar with them and go back to kill the main brain and free the prisoners. 

We had some Npc characters to aid in combat and give variety to the classes On the way to our tortal’s jungle home our captain died at sea so the sea mother god of the sea sends a undead coral crew attack our ship lead by my characters undead father, a light appears taking our ship and captain as we jump over board this is where we discovered the potion gnome was a bit more powerful than first lead to believe as he summoned a ship (at this point the fighter left.)

On the jungle home we take trials of proving where the old fist mate spy’s on us she changes her form to gnome and tortal she reveals to be a witch and close to the final blow she teleports away (this happens more than once almost defeated and gets away.)

The main plot of the story at this point was one monster races attacking all over with some bosses and two their were these gems and each main bad guy had so we keep them safe learning that tritons had one so to make sure the energy didn’t get it we headed down broker peace once again the witch disguises as the king close to defeat she disappears. Through conversation we find out the undead crew and my characters father were kept in a building in the Tritons city in between jobs for the god, I speak other him and he says not to trust the sea mother. Now they know of this gem we go through a trapped dungeon vault to hide it, this is where we fight an Aboleth an form or alien squid with a mouth on the top instead of the bottom with the tentacles and it kills me because we’re higher level the rules were more to kill rather than once down leave and I used an ability to make it more agessive towards me and less able to hit my allies. The cleric healed me but the sea mother spoke to me first half aiding half threatening to do something for her in exchange for his fathers freedom so now a champion I gained levels in Palidan of the sea.

The tritons happend to be more advanced having portals to the other planes we use that as a opportunity to save our captain who was held prisoner there.

Now back we discover dragons have been attacking islands so we aid some people in exchange for a substantial pay out, we all go for a adult green with some giants and it works out we then filled with confidence go for the ancient red dragon. (The DM warned us this is late game proceed at your own risk) luckily we think this through we go to the island which has been transformed from a mountain to a volcano, instead of going in we lure it out with gold and have cannons placed do deal some damage before we start.

And it goes of perfectly and it happens to take out about half its health however the DM was smart the dragon was flying/ hovering so a lot of attacks were less effective as we were more close quarters than ranged as everyone fought it I use the Palidan to heal but everyone went down and so as it began to fly away my one attack with a bow hits killing it however the gnome potion master came to heal persuaded  that the obviously powerful gnome killed it.

Now the lair unprotected we go inside the volcano with lava, the main hoard was protected by a storm giant wizard who can push with a wind spell, the fight starts and it try’s to push us in lava but we succeeded until it flys away so the gnome haste’s me to catch us but the damage wasn’t enough as it pushed me into the lava and as they were unable to catch up and grab my body I died again.

(One Shot) 

We were hired to break into a vult and steal a gem (yes it’s the Triton one) I played a simiic hybrid a creature with 4 arms and flaps to glide, artificer barbarian breaking in was good but after we tried to escape we alerted the guards being stabbed many times, 

Halloween a prequel 

A challenging Wisper bard who saved the gnome potion master as a kid this character ended up being the great great great grandfather of the witch.

Back on story I died, they teleport out and one of the Npcs taking care of the artificers Owlbear chubs they meet a firbog Druid of the stars who’s navigate at night, they hear the tortal home has been attacked by a white dragon so they go to aid however the white dragon is animalistic so it goes for the kill cleric is killed and my new character was killed for the first time but brought back, but as this dragon had time to make a lair and we have a chance to look around we discover a teleporter to the other dragon lairs we use this to rob the red dragon hoard and then run from the giants this had many Treasures a carpet of flying cool weapons for each character and the deck of many things, the gnome pulls a card… 

and they can ask any question and get the answer, my character not nowibg what it is only seeing a cool thing so pulls a card, because why not I’m the luckiest person alive, void

My soul is taken away to a dungeon somewhere. Yay.

A spell is cast to find it and the potion master said he made a hole. A what you ask a portable hole. 5-15ft wide he has slowly been putting random stuff red dragon bones, table chairs, pub staff very careless but nothing has come out so the party higher a helper a replacement character a Triton horizon ranger who travels the planes they enter a black void and meet a gnome creature comprised of  frog, triton, red dragon as well as other bits, he aided as a guide to the firbog soul and a void dragon which nearly had a tpk.

After this we discover the vult was raised and the other gems stolen so we go to a journey to the bad guy base to get the gems we use the card to find a secret way in and discover it’s a trap they use the gems to trade our lives for a devil god to swap so we were sent to hell and a devil was sent back.

A journey through hell leads to us getting a tuning fork to escape discovering time in other worlds work’s different as we’ve been gone for 2 months.

as we dock we’re attacked by the witch as well as my first character and the fighter both undead and under her control a fight ensued close to defeat she instead twin casts disintegrate on the Druid and artificer, the artificer succeeds while the Druid is a pile of dust however my rouge returns one last time to kill the murderer of his captain and father.

Now back we all head to our bards home taken over by giants we head to the tavern talk to a Goliath to get info but it doesn’t work out as we try to put a spell on them they attack with 3 others we try to escape but unfortunately I am trapped by to and slain as quickly as I rejoined, so pelor sends the aid of one of his disciples an aasimar a human angel divine soul sorcerer and rune smith fighter so far they’ve survived but who know what’ll happen.
